Microsoft has announced the next wave of Surface for Business devices along with new line up of consumer devices too – all powered by the new Snapdragon® X2 Series processors.
Commercial customers will see availability from 14 July, with broader amplification planned across the Microsoft IT Pro Blog and official Surface channels. Consumer versions were also announced, generating of buzz across social media due to the fresh new colours available plus the steep price hike (which of course the whole industry is seeing with memory and compent prices).

This latest refresh follows an exciting few weeks of tech annoucements with Microsoft being the first manufacturer to launch devices powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark with the recent introduction of Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box at Microsoft Build, reinforcing Microsoft’s momentum in delivering hardware designed for hybrid work, running local AI heavy workloads, and cloud‑connected productivity.
Surface devices are shipped secure by default, no bloatware and can be managed, provisioned, secured and governed with Intune, Defender and Surface Management Portal.
Why Snapdragon X2 for business?
The new Snapdragon® X2 platform builds on the X1 platform with huge spec updates and is built for a world where AI workloads move seamlessly between device and cloud. The specs are quite impressive:
- 80 TOPS NPU – enabling rich, low‑latency AI experiences directly on the device. This is almost double the TOPS performance of last year’s models!
- Hybrid AI design – run workloads locally for speed and privacy, or scale them in the cloud when needed.
- Performance gains – up to 58% improved graphics performance versus the previous Snapdragon‑based Surface Laptop, and up to 2x faster performance compared to Surface Laptop 5.
Surface Pro for Business 13‑inch (12th edition)
The latest Surface Pro for Business remains the most versatile 2‑in‑1 in the portfolio – now with a serious AI uplift. This keeps the slightly refined look at feel that was introduced last year and includes
- Snapdragon X2 Series with integrated 80 TOPS Qualcomm® Hexagon™ NPU
- OLED PixelSense™ Flow Display (extra)
- Ultra‑mobile form factor with the flexibility of the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard
Surface Pro is positioned as the device for leaders, consultants, and field teams who need tablet mobility without compromising on performance, security, or manageability. Things like touch, ink and pen bring Surface to life in every work scenario.
Surface Laptop for Business 13.8 and 15‑inch (8th edition)
The new Surface Laptop line for Business is built to be the AI‑ready workhorse for modern organisations. As always these are premium, durable design and come in 13.8‑inch and 15‑inch options. They feature:
- Snapdragon X2 Series with 80 TOPS NPU
- All‑day battery life designed for real hybrid work patterns
- Up to 58% better graphics performance vs the previous Snapdragon‑based Surface Laptop
- #1 rated laptop camera by DXOMark
The 15‑inch model also jumps from 201 PPI to 262 PPI, delivering noticeably sharper detail – great for creators, analysts, and anyone working with visual content.
#BetterTogether Copilot, Local AI, Windows 11, and Microsoft 365
The real value of these devices comes from the integration of:
- Windows 11 – optimised for NPUs and hybrid AI
- Microsoft 365 – delivering AI‑enhanced productivity across Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and more
- Copilot – running on‑device for speed and privacy, or in the cloud for scale
These are aimed at general remote, office and hybrid workers that don’t need the agility of pen support of the Pro device line up.
Sustainability, and green lifecycle
Microsoft continues to strengthen the enterprise story are sustainable design, performance, supply chain and repair.
- Recycled materials – including 100% recycled aluminium enclosures
- ENERGY STAR efficiency across the portfolio
- Improved repairability via the Surface Repair Tool
- Secured‑core PC for hardware‑rooted protection
- Highest residual value of any Windows based manufacturer.
This combination supports long‑term lifecycle strategies, lower TCO, and stronger sustainability outcomes.
Secure from Chip to Cloud
Security remains one of the strongest parts of the Surface for Business story. These new Snapdragon X2‑powered devices continue Microsoft’s approach of combining Secured‑core PC, Pluton‑based hardware root of trust, and Windows 11’s zero‑trust‑aligned protections into a single, integrated platform.
Like Apple, Microsoft designs and builds the device, the silicon, the Windows 11 operating system and the firmware. This means, firmware, identity, and OS protections are all reinforced by silicon‑level security, ensuring that credentials, keys, and sensitive data stay isolated from attacks.
With AI workloads increasingly running on‑device, the security model extends to the NPU and memory pathways too – ensuring AI experiences remain private, tamper‑resistant, and policy‑controlled.
Combined with Entra ID, Microsoft 365 security, Defender, and cloud‑based management, organisations get an end‑to‑end security posture that spans device, identity, data, and AI.
